After finalizing the course a certificate can be obtained (5 ECTS), which can be used when you start a full MSc program at Eindhoven University of Technology. The lecturers all have an academic and industrial background and are embedded in the Center for Wireless Technology Eindhoven (CWT/e) of Eindhoven University of Technology, The Netherlands. ![]() Hi, my name is Sophia Hansy and today I want to give you a brief introduction to Qucs. Qucs is a microwave designed tool which is open source so it's free for you to use. At a high level it is very similar to professional microwave designed tools that you would use also in the industry. ![]() So it's very good to get started and to experiment with some microwave components. Let me start it up and this is the screen but you will see there at the top we have the menu bar and then if you have a toolbar. And on the left hand side you got main dock, main dock consists of four tabs the projects tab, the concept tab, components and libraries. And right here is big yellow field gem that's a schematic window which is now stood empty, untitled, because unsafe. Now you will not save all these folders here because we saw all folders that I made. You can just click on New, make new projects you get your own folder, give it a name and then you just double click on it I've already made a folder content introduction. Okay, when you open this you see there's lots of different files that you can generate using Qucs. ![]() We will focus on the schematics here as you can see I've already made one. We just click on that it is empty okay so we can get started now and I can show you step by step how to do that. We would like to start with a simple 50 on transmission line and see where we can simulate the S parameters of the first one. So what we do we have to go to the components tab as you can see there's already some lumped components showing up soon as I click on it.
